Dr. Meichenbaum is Distinguished Professor Emeritus at the University of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada, and maintains a private practice as clinical psychologist. This full day workshop presents the essence of Dr. Donald Meichenbaum&#8217;s cognitive behavioral approach and its application to PTSD.</span>Dr. Meichenbaum has presented throughout North and Central America, Israel, Japan, and the former Soviet Union. Dr. Meichenbaum is the author and co-author of numerous books including: <em>A Clinical Handbook/Practical Therapist Manual for Assessing and Treating Adults with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder</em>, <em>Stress Inoculation Training</em>, <em>Pain and Behavioral Medicine</em>, and <em>Facilitating Treatment Adherence</em>. His book, <em>Cognitive Behavior Modification: An Integrative Approach</em>, is considered a classic in its field.<span style="font-family: times; color: #388e8e; font-size: small;"><strong>PLENARY SPEAKER</strong><br />

He co-founded the American Mental Health Counselors Association, serving as the Association’s second president. He assisted in the writing of enabling legislative language for the first Licensed Mental Health Counseling Law (Virginia in 1976), later used in Florida when it enacted licensure in 1982. Dr. Messina was on the founding board, and first chairperson, of the National Academy of Certified Clinical Mental Health Counselors, and was on the founding board of directors of the National Board of Certified Counselors. He wrote the original Codes of Ethics for the American Mental Health Counselors Association, the National Academy of Certified Clinical Mental Health Counselors and the National Board for Certified Counselors.<br />
